Detroit Man Fatally Shoots Mother After Fight: Prosecutors

A Detroit man was charged in connection to the Saturday fatal shooting of his mother, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.

Malik Asante Smith, 27,​ was charged with first-degree murder and felony firearm in connection with the shooting.​ He was placed in jail and his next court date is scheduled for Oct. 31. If convicted, he faces life in prison.

DETROIT — A Detroit man was charged in connection to the Saturday fatal shooting of his mother, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.

Lorraine Smith, 54, was found shot to death at 11:15 a.m. Saturday inside a Detroit home in the 15000 block of Bringard Drive, officials said.

Malik Asante Smith, 27, was charged with first-degree murder and felony firearm in connection with the shooting. He was placed in jail and his next court date is scheduled for Oct. 31. If convicted, he faces life in prison.

Prosecutors said Malik shot Lorraine multiple times after a physical fight inside the home.
