Detroit Neighborhood Picked As Top 'Up-And-Coming​' In Nation

DETROIT — A popular travel magazine picked a Detroit neighborhood as a top "up-and-coming" neighborhood in the country.

Corktown, Detroit's oldest neighborhood, was selected among 15 other neighborhoods around the country as "most up-and-coming neighborhoods," according to TravelMag.

The magazine said the neighborhood offers some best scenes in the Motor City, including Mercury Burger and Bar, Bobcat Bonnie’s, Brooklyn Street Local and Detroit Institute of Bagels, arguably some of the best bagels in the nation.

The magazine also cited the June 2024 reopening of Michigan Central Station, which is slated to become a tech epicenter after it sat vacant for more than 35 years.

"Couple the charm and Federal-style architecture with a thriving culinary scene, cocktail bars, vintage shops, and revitalization, and it’s easy to see why Corktown is a booming Detroit neighborhood that is creating tons of buzz," TravelMag said.
