Detroit Nonprofit Giving Away Free Gas At Oakland County Gas Station

Prophetic World Group​, a Detroit nonprofit, is giving away $50,000 of free gas Monday at an Oakland County gas station.

OAK PARK, MI — Prophetic World Group, a Detroit nonprofit, is giving away $50,000 of free gas Monday at an Oakland County gas station.

Each car that drives up to the Shell Gas Station on West 8 Mile Road and Coolidge Highway in Oak Park will be given up to $40 worth of gas, officials at the nonprofit said.

The gas giveaway begins at noon and will continue as supplies last.

The average price for a gallon of gas in Michigan was $3.55, one cent below the national average, but up nine cents from last week, according to AAA.

"Michigan motorists are seeing higher prices at the pump compared to last week," Spokesperson for AAA-The Auto Club Group Adrienne Woodland said. "If oil prices continue to rise, pump prices will likely follow suit."
