Detroit Offering Affordable Glasses + Packard Plant Demolition

  1. Detroit City Council approves $1.7 million contract to demolish portion of Packard Plant. The $1.685 million contract, set to be paid using American Rescue Plan Act pandemic funding, was awarded to Homrich Wrecking Inc., a demolition contractor headquartered in Carleton with operating facilities in Detroit.   2. Eye Care for Detroit will be offering frames for $17 or a $17.01 discount. An estimated 40,000 Detroiters will have access to this offer. The offer will be applied to over 120 eyeglass frames. (WDIV ClickOnDetroit)
  3. A northern Michigan restaurant closed its doors early Sunday during one of its busiest times of the year after managers said too many customers were disrespecting staff. (Michigan Patch)

My aspiration into journalism came as a young kid, when I began following the corruption scandal of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. My first break in to the journalism world began with the opportunity to work at the Michigan Journal, where I primarily reported on campus and local news throughout the Dearborn community. So with first-hand experience growing up in a tight-knit neighborhood, I know the importance of delivering news and telling stories that impact local communities.
