Detroit Officer Dies After Being Struck by Car: Police
Police have taken a suspect into custody in connection with the crash.

DETROIT, MI — A suspect is in custody after a Detroit police officer was killed in a hit-and-run crash Friday night, police said.
According to police, the suspect, identified as Steven Patrick Guzina, 54, was traveling in a dodge pick-up van when he struck the officer who had responded to the location to assist with a traffic investigation which resulted in an arrest. The crash took place in the area of Puritan Avenue and Monica Drive. Police say Guzina exited his vehicle and fled on foot following the crash.
He was later taken into custody in the area of Grand River Avenue and Schaefer Highway without incident.

Police have not named the officer killed in the crash.
"This is a tragedy. Certainly the men and women of the 12th as well as the entire department is grieving this loss," Detroit Police Chief James Craig told Fox 2."He was assigned to the 12th precinct the last three years where he was working patrol."
