Detroit Public Schools Officer Convicted Of Phony Carjacking Report

The incident happened in 2021 at a Detroit church, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.

DETROIT — A jury found a Detroit Public School police officer guilty of lying to police about being the victim of a carjacking, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.

Dajuan Dickerson, 33, was found guilty of false report of a felony and lying to peace officer in a jury trial before Judge John Gillis. His sentencing is scheduled for April 24.

If convicted on the false report of a felony charge, Dickerson faces up to four years in prison, a fine up to $2,000, or both.

Prosecutors said Dickerson called 911 and reported a carjacking of his vehicle on March 7, 2021, at 9:08 p.m. at a church in the 14100 block of Evergreen Road in Detroit.

Investigators found no evidence to substantiate Dickerson’s claims, according to the prosecutor's office.

Dickerson was then charged with falsely reporting the carjacking two months later, according to the prosecutor's office.
