  1. The City of Detroit began its road improvement program Friday, improving 40 miles of residential streets and 25 miles of major roads, and adding 3,000 speed jumps in residential neighborhoods to discourage speeding. (Detroit News)
  2. Police accused a Ypsilanti man of driving onto a populated Belle Isle beach and running over two young Dearborn girls, killing one of them and critically injuring the other, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office announced on Friday. (Detroit Patch)
  3. A federal judge denied Ex-Detroit Councilwoman Monica Conyers bid to get on the ballot to run for Wayne County executive against incumbent Warren Evans in the August Democratic primary. (Deadline Detroit)
