Ex-Boy Scout Leader Accused In Child Sex Case

David Radecki,, 37, is barred from further participation in the Boy Scouts of America program, the organization said.

A Metro Detroit Boy Scout Troop leader, a former U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer, is due in court Wednesday on allegations that he inappropriately touched a 12-year-old Romulus boy last fall, according to media reports.

David Radecki, 37, was formally arraigned last month in 34th District Court on charges of second-degree felony criminal conduct, felony accosting a child for immoral purposes, a high misdemeanor count of aggravated indecent exposure and a misdemeanor charge of indecent exposure, authorities said. He was released on bond and required to wear a GPS tether.

The 12-year-old told Romulus police that on Oct. 1, 2016, he had been “inappropriately touched multiple times” by Radecki, according to a statement Tuesday by Romulus police.

The 12-year-old was a member of the Boy Scout troop that Radecki led, WJBK-TV reported.

In a statement, Justin Williams, director of field service for the Boy Scouts of America, said Radecki has been barred from further participation in the Scout program, The Detroit News reported.
“The behavior included in these allegations is abhorrent and runs counter to everything for which the Boy Scouts of America stands,” Williams said.
“The safety of our youth members is of paramount importance and we seek to prevent child abuse through a comprehensive program of education on the subject, the chartered organization leader selection process, criminal background and other checks, policies and procedures to serve as barriers to abuse and the prompt mandatory reporting of any allegation or suspicion of abuse,” he said.
