1 Dead, 2 Hurt In Crash On I-75 In Metro Detroit: Police

All southbound lanes on Interstate 75 at 8 Mile Road in Metro Detroit were closed Thursday morning after a fatal crash, according to police.

METRO DETROIT — A man was killed in a crash Thursday morning on Interstate 75 at 8 Mile Road in metro Detroit, according to Michigan State Police.

Police said a 37-year-old Oak Park was speeding in a Chevy SUV on the freeway near 8 Mile Road at 5:45 a.m. when he lost control and slid across the freeway and crashed into a bridge.

Moments later, a 26-year-old Chesterfield man, who was speeding in a Chevy Cruze on the freeway near 8 Mile Road when he lost control of his car and crashed into a support bridge, according to police.

A Dodge Avenger then smashed into the Cruze, according to police.

The 26-year-old Chesterfield man was killed in the crash, while the driver of the Avenger and the Chevy SUV suffered minor injuries, according to police.

The freeway was still closed Thursday morning, but was expected to reopen soon, according to police.
