Father’s Day Is Coming: Tell Us About Your Dad

You have to look closely to see it, but there’s a small scar above my left eyebrow where my father hit me with a grain shovel. He wasn’t an abuser. He was a great dad, and I tagged after him everywhere he went. He was shoveling corn from the bed of a truck one day, and didn’t see me climb in to be near him. I’m not sure he ever forgave himself, but the scar is a reminder of how much I loved him.
