Five Events That Are Practically A Rite Of Spring In Metro Detroit

We've rounded up some springtime events in the Detroit area to get you out of the house in April.

Even though April is known for its rainy days, it’s also the time when people in metro Detroit start getting off the couch and jumping back into community events and activities.

Some events are practically a rite of spring — Opening Day for Minor League Baseball, farmers markets, Earth Day observances and action projects, and the start of the expo and festival season in metro Detroit.

Tigers Opening Day

Enjoy live music from DJs, food trucks, bars and opening day vibes thoughout Downtown Detroit. The Tigers will host the St. Louis Cardinals. First-pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m.

Art in April

Take a self-guided tour of art displays through downtown Monroe. Local businesses will be offering snacks, beverages, specials and give aways throughout the day. Free event.

FoolMoon 2026: Fools of a Feather!

FoolMoon returns to downtown Ann Arbor with light-filled art, street dancing and other activities. The outdoor nighttime event features hundreds of quirky community-made luminary sculptures centered around a huge outdoor dance party.

Modded Detroit 2026 Season Opener Car Show

One of the largest car communities in the Midwest will be in Oakland County this month. The event features over 2,000 cars of all kinds and other family-friendly activities, including a $500 footrace.

Saturday, April 11, at 3860 Newton Rd, Commerce Township from 1 to 7 p.m.

All Things Detroit Day 2026

The 12th annual All Things Detroit Day is the biggest day to shop small in the city. The day brings local makers and entrepreneurs face-to-face with the shoppers from across the region.
