Ground Stop At Detroit Airport Causes Major Delays
Departures to the airport were grounded across much of the Midwest, East Coast and Atlantic Ocean.
DETROIT — The Detroit Metropolitan Airport was under a ground stop Monday evening, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
The stop began shortly before 5:30 p.m. and was set to end around 6:45 p.m., with an up to 60 percent chance of extension, the administration reported, adding the stop was caused by runway construction.
Departures to the airport were grounded across much of the Midwest, East Coast and Atlantic Ocean.

Delays averaged 41 minutes, with some as high as 72 minutes, according to the FAA.
