I-94 Total Closure In Detroit Begins Thursday
Crews are closing the freeway for five days so they can work on the Second Avenue bridge in Detroit.

DETROIT — Both directions of Interstate 94 between Interstate 96 and Interstate 75 in Detroit will close Thursday morning for five days so construction crews can work on the new Second Avenue bridge.
The closure begins at 4 a.m. Thursday and the freeway will reopen at 4 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4. Crews are closing the freeway so they can monitor and strengthen the cables that support the bridge’s road and barrier walls.
During the closure, eastbound Interstate 94 traffic will be diverted to eastbound Interstate 96, then northbound Interstate 75 back to eastbound Interstate 94. Westbound Interstate 94 traffic will follow southbound Interstate 75, then westbound Interstate 96 back to westbound Interstate 94.
