Illegal Block Party Detroit Shooting Victims Released From Hospital

No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting, though police don't believe the shooting was random.

DETROIT — All 19 people who were injured in a shooting at an illegal block party in Detroit earlier this month have been released from the hospital, according to police.

Police did not identify those people, but said they were all aged between 17 and 29. Two other people, a 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were killed in the shooting, according to police.

Police said the shooting happened at 2:25 a.m. in the area of Reno Street and Rossini Drive, near East State Fair and Gratiot avenues, where police said an illegal block party was being held. Police believe multiple shooters fired more than 100 rounds into the group.

Officers also received nine weapons from the scene, including a Glock switch, which turns a gun into an automatic weapon, police said.

Police plan to crack down on illegal block party's in the city by deploying at least 80 officers to drive through neighborhoods and look for illegal parking, any kind of disorderly conduct and people carrying weapons.
