International Samaritan Announces “Be a Samaritan Day"

International Samaritan, a nonprofit organization based in Ann Arbor, has declared July 31, 2018 as "Be a Samaritan Day."

International Samaritan, a nonprofit organization based in Ann Arbor, has declared July 31, 2018 as “Be a Samaritan Day.” The organization, which is dedicated to helping the men, women and children who live in garbage dump communities throughout the world, will be hosting an online celebration that day to honor all of the important work being done to help those in poverty.

International Samaritan encourages everyone to follow the example of the parable of the Good Samaritan, who stopped when he saw a man in need and changed a life. “Be a Samaritan Day” will give every person the chance to help change a life. Visitors to International Samaritan’s website that day will have a chance to hear inspiring stories of individuals who are making a difference, leave their own messages of hope and make a donation to support the organization’s programs.

“Sometimes, it is easy to get distressed by all of the bad news out there, so we thought it fitting that we take a day to celebrate and honor all of the good work that is being done by people in our community, state and across the nation, said International Samaritan Vice President of Operations Andrew Pawuk. “Our goal is to give everyone a chance to show how they are making a small difference to change the lives of someone in need.
