A Hamtramck research institute is looking for Polish-Americans who have made made positive impacts within the community across Michigan.
HAMTRAMCK, MI — A Polish-American institute in Hamtramck is looking for Polish-Americans who have made significant and positive impacts within the Polish American community (Polonia) across Michigan.
The Piast Institute launched the project, "Top 25 Polish American Leaders in 2025," in celebration of Polish Heritage month, which runs through October.

The research institute wants to highlight individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation and dedication to advancing the Polish American community.

Whether through professional achievements, community service, cultural advocacy, or other impactful contributions, the Institute is dedicated to celebrating those who have made a meaningful difference in Polonia.
Eligibility Requirements
- Nominees must be Michigan residents of Polish descent who are at least 21 years old by Nov. 1, 2024.
- Current employees and Board members of the Piast Institute are not eligible for nomination.
- Self-nominations are encouraged.
How to Nominate
- Submit nominations by Friday, Nov. 1, 2024. Nominations can be submitted here or at https://www.piastinstitute.org/top25in25.html
- Ensure all sections of the nomination form are thoroughly completed, as incomplete applications will not be considered.
- Nominations will be reviewed by an anonymous Selection Committee composed of Michigan Polish American residents who are independent of the Piast Institute. The selected individuals will be announced in January 2025.
Recognition and Awards
- Awardees will be honored at a special recognition event, receiving a plaque and two guest tickets.
- Awardees will be required to provide a photograph for media use and consent to the use of their name, likeness, and other details for promotional purposes.
The Piast Institute is a national research center focused on Polish and Polish American affairs. As one of forty-eight U.S. Census Bureau Information Centers, the Institute plays a crucial role in researching and promoting Polish heritage. Its mission includes celebrating Polish contributions to American culture and addressing inaccuracies about Poland and Polish Americans.
