Large Hail, Gusty Winds Possible With Storms Across Detroit Area Friday

Highs Friday will reach the 70s before the storms move into the area, the weather service said.

Severe thunderstorms are possible across the metro Detroit area Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

The storms will move through the area sometime late Friday afternoon and bring the chance of heavy rainfall, large hail and winds up to 60 miles per hour, the weather service said.

The strongest storms will be along and south of Interstate 69 and west of Interstate 75 in the area, the weather service said.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of southeastern Michigan under a marginal risk (level 1 out of 5) for severe weather today.

Temperatures will be in the 60s with plenty of sunshine this weekend, before another chance of rain early next week, the weather service said.
