Lincoln Park Woman Dies In Monday Night Crash In Detroit

The woman's two children —​ two boys ages 6 and 7 —​ were taken to a local hospital for minor injuries, police said.

DETROIT — A Lincoln Park woman died Monday night when the vehicle she was driving was hit by another vehicle on the entrance ramp to I-96, Michigan State Police officials said.

Michigan State Police troopers said they were called to the I-86 entrance ramp from Davison Freeway around 11:25 p.m. Monday.

A Chevrolet Traverse driven by the 25-year-old man struck a Saturn Ion driven by the victim, police said.

The man ran from the scene after the crash and was later found by police at a local hospital where he said he'd run to a gas station to get a ride to the hospital, police said.

The man has two prior convictions for driving on a suspended license and has five current suspensions and two local warrants, police said.

Authorities said they are seeking a warrant to draw blood from the man.
