DETROIT—The Detroit Lions cut wide receiver Breshad Perriman from the team on Monday, according to a tweet from ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Perriman, a former first-round draft pick by the Baltimore Ravens in 2015, signed a one-year deal with the Lions in March as a top free-agent addition. He was a projected starter after the Lions decided not to draft any wide receivers.

However, in addition to battling a hip injury, he had a disappointing preseason, where he only caught one pass for six yards, and had two drops in their recent game against the Colts.
