Lions Season Could Come Down To Final Game At Lambeau: Here's How

DETROIT — Despite the Detroit Lions' ugly 37-23 Sunday loss in Charlotte, they still have a chance to make the NFL playoffs, thanks to losses from the Seattle Seahawks and the Washington Commanders.

The Lions can still grab the last NFC Wild Card spot if they win their last two remaining games (vs Bears and at Packers) and get at least one additional loss from each of the Seahawks and Commanders. The sixth spot is possible too with a New York Giants loss.

While the Lions will certainly be favored over the Bears in Sunday's game at Ford Field, their last game at Green Bay could be a playoff game in its own right, because the Packers are right back into the thick of the NFC playoff race with their upset win over the Miami Dolphins on Christmas Day.

Like the Lions, the Packers need to win their last two remaining games and get help to grab that last wild card spot. However, the Packers only need one Commanders loss, since they would end up holding a tiebreaker over the Seattle Seahawks.

If Green Bay defeats the Minnesota Vikings at Lambeau Field on Sunday and get a Cleveland Browns victory over the Commanders, then the Packers control their own destiny to the playoffs.

If the Lions defeat the Bears at Ford Field on Sunday and get wins from the Browns and the New York Jets over the Seahawks, then the Lions will control their own destiny to the playoffs too, setting up a showdown with the Packers at Lambeau Field for that final spot.

If the Lions lose Sunday to the Bears, then they'll also need the Seahawks and Commanders to lose as well to stay alive in the final week. If the Packers lose to the Vikings on Sunday, then they're eliminated entirely from playoff contention.
