Looking For A Job? 2,000 Michigan Companies Hiring Now

More than 2,000 Michigan companies are still hiring despite the economic hit COVID-19 has had on the state.

MICHIGAN — Despite the economic impact Michigan has felt with the onset of the coronavirus, otherwise known as COVID-19, more than 2,000 Michigan companies — including many in Detroit and its neighboring communities — are hiring.

Michigan's employment search engine — Pure Michigan Talent Connect — provides job seekers and employers an online portal at MiTalent.org. Job seekers and employers may post, search and connect to jobs on the site.

According to a press release issued by the state, thousands of new jobs are being posted to the portal each day as Michigan companies need to fill thousands of critical, immediate vacancies to support work during the COVID-19 pandemic, including those in logistics, healthcare, manufacturing and agribusiness industries.

“Michiganders are tough and hardworking, especially in times of crisis,” Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said. “Tens of thousands of open jobs are available right now with more than 2,000 Michigan companies and organizations hiring to continue providing critical services.”

The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) encourages job seekers to visit MiTalent.org, where enhanced search functionality has been added to the homepage to better connect job seekers with these critical opportunities.

“While many Michiganders are being displaced from work, thousands of employers have immediate job openings,” said LEO Director Jeff Donofrio. “We encourage those who are currently unemployed to search available jobs at MiTalent.org.”

Job seekers visiting Pure Michigan Talent Connect who create free profile will be able to upload or create a resume, as well as customize their job preferences so they are seen by employers that are searching for talent. They will have access to store employment-related documents, manage their job searches, and sign up for job notifications from their customized dashboard. A profile is not required to search for jobs.
