"Love Never Fails" Regional Convention
Bible Principles Can Changes Lives: She Didn't Give Up!

BELLEVILLE, MI - Jehovah's Witnesses throughout the world will convene at various locations this year to attend a three-day convention series entitled "Love Never Fails." This program will highlight ways to demonstrate love to God and for our neighbors. Locally, an estimated 32,000 individuals throughout Michigan and northern Ohio are expected to be in attendance at the conventions that will be held at the Assembly Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Belleville, Michigan.
Raising children in a single parent household is even more challenging. That is exactly the predicament in which Julia Warren found herself over 30 years ago. She found benefit from the bible counsel provided at these conventions.
It has been well documented and reported, for example, that children born to unmarried women are far more likely to live in poverty, suffer abuse and be neglected. Girls born into these families are more likely to become pregnant than children living with their married parents and continue the generational cycle of unwed motherhood.

Children from low-income, fatherless households are also more likely to become school dropouts. Children in these families tend to be lower achievers than those from two-parent, higher-income families. These trends generally exist even when a stepfather is present.
Studies also have concluded that children growing up without their biological father are more likely to abuse drugs and alcohol, commit suicide, engage in crime and be incarcerated.
Julia has a hard task to raise 3 children by herself which by no means easy, as her children were still quite young, aged 8, 7 and 1. Despite the physical exhaustion of working hard to earn a modest living to care for them physically, Julia made time to care for her children’s emotional, recreational and spiritual needs as well. She was actively involved in their academic life, she encouraged them to cultivate constructive friendships, and most importantly she instilled in her children the same values and principles she learned and modeled herself through her study of the Bible.

Julia admits raising children as a single parent was quite difficult. There were moments she even felt like giving up. Yet looking back, she credits Bible principles and scriptural guidance for successfully raising her three children on her own. Despite living in the city of Detroit, where a life of drugs and crime among the youth can be so prevalent, she not only managed to protect her children from following such lifestyles but also taught them by example to be hardworking, honest and productive members of the community. In fact, they themselves now enjoy happily united families of their own. “Doing things God’s way pays off,” says Julia. “Don’t give up!”
