Man Accused in Shootout with Detroit Police Arraigned
The suspect, who was shot multiple times after allegedly pointing his gun in the direction of police, is still hospitalized.

DETROIT, MI — A man who was wounded in a police shootout last week was arraigned Tuesday from his hospital bed on multiple felony charges, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy said. Javontae Deangelo Walker, 20, of Detroit, is accused of pointing his in the direction of two Detroit police officers attempting to stop his SUV as part of an armed robbery investigation around 6:20 p.m. Thursday.
Walker has been charged with two counts of assault with intent to commit murder, one count of first-degree home invasion, one count of fleeing and eluding police, one count of unlawful driving away–automobile, five counts of resisting and obstructing a police officer and 10 counts of felony firearm.
When Detroit police officers attempted to stop Walker’s SUV Williams allegedly ignored the emergency lights and accelerated. He brought his vehicle to a stop in the 14000 block of Hampshire and exited. He pointed his gun in the direction of police officers, who then returned fire, striking him multiple times.

[RECIC]Walker fled on foot to a house in the 14000 block of Camden, where he hid out before finally surrendering to police. The police officers weren’t injured.

Walker was taken to a local hospital, where his arraignment took place Tuesday. His next court date is for a probable cause conference on Jan. 10. His preliminary examination in 36th District Court is scheduled for Jan. 17.
