Man Charged In Detroit Liquor Store Shooting

Authorities accused Dvante Antioni Howard, 23,​ of fatally shooting a Detroit store clerk before robbing the store and fleeing.

DETROIT — Authorities charged a Detroit man Thursday in connection to a string of armed robberies, including one that left a person dead, Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced.

Dvante Antioni Howard, 23, is accused of entering the store at the 20440 block of James Couzens Freeway in Detroit on Jan. 17 and fatally shooting Behnam Rasho, 64, before robbing the store and fleeing the scene, authorities said.

He was charged with one count of felony murder, two counts of armed robbery, one count of assault with intent to murder and four counts of felony firearm, authorities said.

Howard is also accused of robbing a separate Detroit store. Authorities said he entered a gas station on the 20250 block of James Couzens Freeway on the morning of Dec. 31, in which he robbed the gas station at gunpoint and assaulted the clerk before fleeing the scene.

He was charged with one count of armed robbery causing serious injury, one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm and two counts of felony firearm, authorities said.
