Man Killed In Crash On Detroit Freeway: Police

The crash happened on Interstate 96 near Warren Avenue in Detroit, according to police.

DETROIT — A 34-year-old man was killed in a crash on a Detroit freeway Sunday night, according to Michigan State Police.

The crash happened at 8:20 p.m. Sunday in the eastbound lanes on Interstate 96 near Warren Avenue in Detroit, according to police.

Police said the man was driving a Hyundai and merging onto Interstate 96 from Interstate 94.

While merging from the entrance ramp, police said he struck a semi-truck and lost control, crashing into the left concrete wall and coming to rest in the left lane.

Another driver stopped and removed two children, ages four and eight, from the car while the man stayed inside, police said.

That's when a Dodge Ram struck the Hyundai and the semi-truck, police said.

The Hyundai then spun around due to the impact and struck the vehicle of the driver who had stopped for the initial crash, police said.

Officers soon arrived and took the man who was inside the Hyundai to a nearby hospital where he died, police said.

Police said there were no other injuries and are still investigating the crash.
