Man, Woman Scam Monroe Co. Chick-Fil-A With 'Quick-Change' Scheme: MSP

Troopers said the pair stole money from the restaurant while distracting employees by requesting change for different kinds of bills.

FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, MI — Troopers are looking for two people who stole money from a Monroe County Chick-fil-A last weekend using a "quick-change" scheme, according to Michigan State Police.

A man and woman walked into the Frenchtown Township restaurant located at 2071 North Telegraph Road around 8 p.m. Saturday and placed an order, according to Michigan State Police.

The man then handed the employee cash to pay for the order and "engaged in a conversation with the employee, requesting he make change for various denominations of bills.," according to Michigan State Police.

The man was then able to use sleight of hand and pocket money that belonged to the restaurant, according to Michigan State Police.

The woman also took money from the restaurant before the two received their order and left in a silver Ford Escape that was driving south on Telegraph Road, according to Michigan State Police.

Police did not say how much money the pair of suspects pocketed before leaving the restaurant.

Anyone who recognizes the suspected thieves or their vehicle, or something about the crime was asked to call 734-242- 3500.
