Meijer Doorstep Grocery Delivery Extended In Metro Detroit

METRO DETROIT, MI — More customers in the Detroit area and in Ann Arbor can have groceries and everyday essentials delivered to their door as Meijer and its home delivery partner, Shipt, expand the service beginning Thursday. The store-to-door service was launched last year in Grand Rapids, Meijer’s home base.

In Metro Detroit, another 500,000 households in Allen Park, Belleville, Brighton, Flat Rock, Hartland, Howell, Lincoln Park, Southgate, Taylor and Woodhaven will get the service, Meijer said in a news release.

The service was already available in Canton, Dearborn, Downtown Detroit, Rochester Hills, Shelby Township and White Lake Township, where more than 100,000 deliveries have been made. Meijer now offers home delivery to more than 2 million households in Michigan. The retailer said rollouts of the service will continue across the Midwest throughout the year.

Customers can shop using their phone or computer for 55,000 groceries and everyday essentials and perishables — including fresh produce, refrigerated and frozen items — as well as pet food and health and beauty care items. Personal shoppers hand-pick items from local Meijer stores offering Shipt’s home-delivery service and deliver orders within a preferred one-hour time window.

The expansion is increasing the need for a network of shoppers, Shipt said. Applications can be made at Get Paid to Shop.

Meijer customers can sign up for Shipt memberships. Delivery is free for orders over $35; a flat $7 delivery fee is added to any orders under $35.
