Metro Detroit Cooling Centers: List
In addition to the rising heat and humidity, forecasters said another round of severe thunderstorms can hit the area Friday night.
METRO DETROIT — With temperatures expected to climb into the 90s with heat indices approaching 100 degrees in metro Detroit on Thursday and Friday, multiple cities in the area opened cooling centers.

Severe thunderstorms Wednesday night knocked-out power to nearly 200,000 DTE customers in the area. As of Thursday afternoon, 184,000 were still in the dark.
