METRO DETROIT — There's a chance severe weather could impact Detroit's opening day baseball Friday afternoon, as scattered rain showers could produce thunder and lightning, meteorologists said.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for most of southeastern Michigan, as scattered rain showers were likely to produce lighting and possible hail. The potential thunderstorms will move into the metro Detroit area after 2 p.m. and could cause a weather delay at Comerica Park, meteorologists said.

With cooler air moving in Friday night, any lingering rain showers could transition into snow across the metro Detroit region, meteorologists said. However, little to no snow accumulation was expected for areas that see some snow showers heading into Saturday morning.

Saturday morning's temperatures will be near freezing and any lingering rain/snow showers were expected to dissipate Saturday morning in the metro Detroit area, meteorologists said. Although Saturday afternoon was expected to be cloudy, it should remain dry with temperatures in the mid 40s.

Sunday easily looks to be the best day for a Tigers baseball game. After a chilly Sunday morning in the metro Detroit area, temperatures were expected to reach the low 50s under sunny skies, making for a fairly warm afternoon for a baseball game.
