Metro Detroit Gas Prices Push, Exceed $5 Per Gallon: AAA
A gas station at 12 Mile and Telegraph roads in Southfield saw $5.19 for a gallon of regular gas, WWJ News reported.
DETROIT — Some gas stations around metro Detroit saw prices over $5 per gallon as gas prices continue to surge across the state, AAA said.
The average price for a gallon of regular gas in the metro Detroit area was $4.97, another 13 cent spike from just yesterday, according to AAA.
Prices in the metro Detroit were among the highest in the state, and Oakland County's $4.99 average per a gallon of regular gas is the highest in the state, according to AAA.

WWJ News reported a gas station at 12 Mile and Telegraph roads in Southfield saw $5.19 for a gallon of regular gas.
Regular gas prices across the state of Michigan also jumped 13 cents overnight to $4.93, which is 17 cents above the national average, according to AAA. The spike now puts Michigan among the nation's leaders for the average cost of a gallon of gas.

Lawmakers in Lansing were working on a measure to suspend the state's gas taxes, which would save Michigan drivers 51 cents per gallon at the pump. The temporary suspension would start on June 15 and last through Sept. 15.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said she was "encouraged" by the bill, which passed the Senate last week, but still needs to pass the House before Whitmer could sign it into law.
