Metro Detroit Gas Prices Sets Record, MI Equals National Average: AAA

MICHIGAN — As statewide gas prices continue setting records, metro Detroit crossed that threshold Monday morning when gas prices jumped five cents over the weekend, according to AAA.

The average price for a regular gallon of gas across metro Detroit was $4.31 cents, up 26 cents from just a week ago, according to AAA. The previous record high for metro Detroit was $4.27 set back in March.

Meanwhile, Michigan's statewide average for a regular gallon of gas jump again to $4.32, which puts the state equally tied with the national average.

"Tight gasoline stocks in the Midwest, coupled with rising demand and high crude oil prices sent Michigan gas prices soaring to a new record high," Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA-The Auto Club Group said. "Pump prices will likely face upward pressure as oil prices remain above $105 per barrel."
