METRO DETROIT — A snowstorm will move into southeastern Michigan on Wednesday and dump up to 8 inches of snow in some areas, according to the National Weather Service.
A winter storm watch will go into effect at 7 a.m. Wednesday morning Wayne, Lenawee and Monroe counties and last through 10 p.m.
The metro Detroit area will see between 5 and 7 inches of snow while areas closer to the Ohio border could see up to 8 inches, according to the National Weather Service.

Areas north of metro Detroit and toward mid-Michigan will see lighter snowfall totals around 3 to 4 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service.
Light snow will begin falling in the metro Detroit area just after the morning commute at 6 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The snow will then gradually increase in intensity with the heaviest snow coming down in the metro Detroit area between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters warned the heavy snow will greatly impact traffic as gusty winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour will blow snow all over the roadways, significantly reducing visibility.
The snow will start fading away Wednesday night and any lingering snow showers should dissipate by Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
