Metro Detroit Weather: 2 To 4 Inches Of Snow Thursday

Metro Detroiters can expect the snow to start falling between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Thursday night as it comes up from the southwest.

METRO DETROIT — After a sunny and dry start to Thursday with temperatures around 30 degrees in the metro Detroit area, snow will move in Thursday night where meteorologists are predicting 2 to 4 inches of snowfall across the region, the National Weather Serviced warned.

Metro Detroiters can expect the snow to start falling between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Thursday night as it comes up from the southwest. The heaviest bands of snow will settle in over the heart of the metro region overnight into Friday morning, making for a difficult Friday morning commute, the National Weather Service warned.

After the steady snowfall wraps up Friday morning, leaving roughly 2 to 4 inches of fresh snow on the ground in the metro region, the rest of Friday looks cold and dry with highs only reaching the low to mid 20s, meteorologists said.

The weekend starts chilly with metro Detroiters waking up to temperatures in the low teens Saturday morning, but a warm-up is expected as highs should reach the mid 30s under mostly sunny skies Saturday, meteorologists said.

Sunday is almost a near repeat of Saturday, with warmer temperatures reaching the mid to upper 30s under mostly sunny skies. Temperatures will take a slight dip Monday before a gradual steady warm up next week, where meteorologist say temperatures could reach 50 degrees by the end of the week.
