METRO DETROIT — Just as the snow from Friday's storm melts away, another snowmaker Monday could leave a few inches of fresh snow across Metro Detroit, according to the National Weather Service.
Light snow is expected to start falling across southeastern Michigan during the morning hours, and could continue through the afternoon and evening hours, wrapping up around midnight, according to the weather service.
Between 1 and 3 inches of snow is expected to fall in the metro Detroit region, with higher accumulations in the south zone closer to the Ohio border, according to the weather service.

Here's the National Weather Service's extended forecast for metro Detroit:
Monday: A chance of snow before 9 a.m., then snow showers, mainly after 9 a.m. High near 36 degrees. Calm wind becoming northwest around 6 miles per hour in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. Snow showers likely, mainly before 9 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23 degrees. North wind 10 to 14 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 20 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 34 degrees. Northwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 43 degrees.

Friday: Rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 50 degrees. Breezy.
