While Saturday looks dry and cold with temperatures in the 30s, forecasters expect widespread snow showers to start falling Sunday morning, leaving around 2 inches in most areas across metro Detroit, according to the National Weather Service.
So far, the metro Detroit area has only seen 0.2 inches of snowfall, 7 inches below the average for January snowfall, according to the National Weather Service.

Friday: A chance of rain and snow before 4 p.m., then a slight chance of snow. Cloudy, with a high near 37 degrees. West northwest wind 11 to 16 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 24 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36 degrees. Southwest wind 6 to 10 miles per hour.
Sunday: Snow likely, mainly before 1 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 36 degrees. South wind around 7 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of around 2 inches.
Monday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38 degrees.
Tuesday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39 degrees.
Wednesday: Snow likely. Cloudy, with a high near 37 degrees. Breezy.
