METRO DETROIT — After a slew of rain showers passed through the metro Detroit area Monday morning, another round of heavy rain showers is expected to sweep the area during the afternoon and nighttime hours, the National Weather Service said.

Thunderstorms could also pop up during the late afternoon and early evening hours as temperature reach near 90 degrees, and while they could produce brief periods of wind gusts reaching 50 to 60 miles per hour, meteorologists are not expecting any severe weather, the National Weather Service said.
