METRO DETROIT — After an early taste of summer in the metro Detroit area, a strong Monday morning cold front will bring cooler temperatures and rain to the region, the National Weather Service said.

Meteorologists said the Monday rain was expected to start falling during the late morning hours and continue through the early afternoon across metro Detroit.

Scattered rain showers were expected to hang around in the metro Detroit area through the late afternoon and evening hours before wrapping up Monday night, when lows will drop into the upper 30s, the National Weather Service said.

The cooling trend will continue Tuesday in the metro Detroit area, as temperatures will struggle to reach 50 degrees under mostly sunny skies, the National Weather Service said. However, there was a slight chance of rain Tuesday afternoon.

Wednesday will be the coolest day of the week in the metro Detroit area, as temperatures will only reach 45 degrees, the National Weather Service said. But Wednesday was also expected to remain dry and sunny.

The metro Detroit area will begin to warm back up again on Thursday, when highs were expected to reach 52 degrees under sunny and dry skies, the National Weather Service said.
