METRO DETROIT — Severe thunderstorms are likely to cross the metro Detroit area Wednesday afternoon, the National Weather Service said. Meteorologists warned the storms could produce downpours, damaging hail and wind gusts over 60 miles per hour.
The storms will roll though the metro Detroit area sometime between 2 and 8 p.m. as temperatures reach the low 90s with oppressive humidity making it feel like the upper 90s, the National Weather Service said.
Any lingering thunderstorms in the metro Detroit area will fizzle out Wednesday night, paving the way for a clear and sunny Thursday with less humidity and highs reaching the upper 80s, the National Weather Service said.

Friday in the metro Detroit area will be a touch warmer with temperatures climbing back into the low 90s, bringing another chance of rain showers during the nighttime hours, the National Weather Service said.
