Metro Detroit Weather: Snow In Forecast

Friday morning snow could create tricky travel for the morning's commute in the metro region.

METRO DETROIT — After scattered snow showers passed though the metro region Thursday morning, leaving little to no accumulation, Thursday afternoon looks relatively dry with temperatures reaching 34 degrees, the National Weather Service said.

Friday's forecast in the metro region looks somewhat similar to Thursday's, in which there will be light scattered snow showers Friday morning, which could produce 1 inch of new snow and create for tricky driving for Friday's morning commute, the National Weather Service said.

However, there is a chance the snow could transition into a rain/snow mix as temperatures continue warming throughout he morning hours, ultimately getting up to near 40 degrees in the afternoon, the National Weather said.

Arctic air will begin making its way through the metro region Friday night, keeping temperatures cold on Saturday with highs only reaching the low 20s and lows in the single digits, the National Weather Service said. There is also a slight chance of snow in some areas of the metro region that could produce up to 1 inch of new fresh snow.

Sunday will be very cold with temperature at or near zero degrees, as the arctic air settles in. Sunday's highs will only reach the upper teens and lows will be very cold in the single digits. However, Sunday looks dry and partly sunny, the National Weather Service said.
