Snow/Rain Returns To Metro Detroit Friday: Here's What To Know

Some areas in metro Detroit can see up to 3 inches of fresh snow Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

METRO DETROIT — Some areas in metro Detroit can see a couple inches of fresh snow Friday, while other communities in the area will likely see just rain, or a wintry mix, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters expect the heaviest snow to fall in areas north of Interstate 69 in the Thumb and Tri-Cities region where totals can exceed 4 inches, according to the National Weather Service.

Areas along the Michigan 59 corridor between Flint and Pontiac will likely see a rain/snow mix, but forecasters warned some communities in Livingston, Oakland and northern Macomb counties can see up to 3 inches of fresh snow, according to the National Weather Service.

While it's possible areas farther south can see snow, forecasters expect communities between Port Huron and Adrian will see just rain, according to the National Weather Service.

Most of the snow/rain in the metro Detroit area should fade away by Saturday morning when temperatures climb toward the mid 40s with more rain, according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday's rain will fade away during the afternoon hours, before returning to the metro area Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Any rain showers in the area that linger into the nighttime hours can transition into light show showers as lows drop into the low 30s, according to the National Weather Service.

Thursday: Partly sunny; High 48, Low 37

Friday: Rain/Snow; High 41, Low 38

Saturday: Chance of rain; High 45, Low 37

Sunday: Rain showers; High 46, Low 34

Monday: Cloudy; High 41, Low 30
