METRO DETROIT — High temperatures in the metro Detroit area return to the 70s Friday, starting a stretch of summer-like weather to begin October, according to the National Weather Service.

Skies will be clear Saturday and Sunday with high temperatures reaching the mid to upper 70s in the region, before highs climb back into the 80s next week, according to the National Weather Service.

Metro Detroit skies will remain sunny and clear early next week with high temperatures hitting the low 80s on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Here's the National Weather Service extended look at the metro Detroit forecast:

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 71 degrees. East northeast wind 5 to 7 miles per hour.

Saturday: Areas of fog before 10 a.m. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 74 degrees. Light and variable wind becoming northeast around 5 miles per hour in the morning.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 77 degrees. Calm wind becoming east southeast around 5 miles per hour in the afternoon.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 79 degrees.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 80 degrees.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80 degrees.
