Metro Detroit Weather: Temps Hit 70s Before Drastic Drop For Halloween

METRO DETROIT — Temperatures in the metro Detroit area will climb toward a record high Friday before rain showers move in and a drastic drop to start next week, according to the National Weather Service.

There will be sunshine Friday in the metro area as afternoon highs hit 75 degrees, just short the of the record high of 78 degrees recorded in 1927, according to the National Weather Service.

Rain showers will move into the metro area Friday night and bleed over into Saturday when temperatures cool down into the 50s, according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday's rain showers should fizzle away in the metro area by the daytime hours as highs only reach the mid 50s, according to the National Weather Service.

A better chance for widespread rain showers will come on Sunday when afternoon highs struggle to reach the 50s, according to the National Weather Service.

Tuesday, Halloween, should be dry, though it will be cold as afternoon temperatures will only reach the low 40s and lows possibly dropping into the 20s, according to the National Weather Service.

Here's the National Weather Service's extended look for the metro Detroit area:

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 75 degrees. Southwest wind 11 to 15 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 25 miles per hour. Showers likely between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 50 degrees. Southwest wind 10 to 14 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 21 miles per hour.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 56 degrees. North northeast wind around 10 miles per hour.

Sunday: Showers. High near 48 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.

Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 44 degrees.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 42 degrees.
