METRO DETROIT — After a stretch of fall like weather, summer returns for the holiday weekend as temperatures will climb into the 90s in the metro Detroit area, according to the National Weather Service.

High temperatures in the area will stay in the 70s under sunny and clear skies Thursday and Friday, making for perfect evenings to watch a high school football game, according to the National Weather Service.

As we get into the weekend, high temperatures will reach the mid 80s under sunny and clear skies with breezy conditions across the area Saturday, before temperatures soar into the 90s, according to the National Weather Service.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 73 degrees. East northeast wind 6 to 8 miles per hour.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 76 degrees. Light and variable wind becoming southeast 5 to 9 miles per hour in the morning.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 84 degrees. Southwest wind 7 to 11 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 18 miles per hour.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 90 degrees.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 92 degrees.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 91 degrees.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 89 degrees.
