Metro Detroit Weather: Thunderstorms Likely Friday Afternoon, NWS says
Meteorologists warned some of the storms passing through the metro Detroit area may be strong with damaging wind gusts and small hail.
METRO DETROIT — A Friday afternoon passing cool front will likely spur scattered thunderstorms across the metro Detroit area, the National Weather Service said.
As afternoon highs in the metro Detroit area reach the upper 80s, meteorologists expect the thunderstorms to roll through the area during the afternoon and early evening hours, mainly between 5 and 8 p.m.
Meteorologists warned some of those storms may be strong with damaging wind gusts and small hail.

Scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms were expected to linger overnight into Saturday morning, but then quickly dissipate early Saturday morning, the National Weather Service said.
After Friday's rain showers and thunderstorms, metro Detroit's skies open up, making for a sunny and warm holiday Fourth of July weekend.
