Metro Detroit Weather: Warm Thursday Before Rain, Cooler Temperatures

METRO DETROIT — Highs will reach the mid 60s under sunny skies in the metro Detroit area Thursday just before a cold front moves into the area with rain showers and cooler temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.

The rain showers will move into the area overnight and linger into the Friday morning, making for a wet morning commute, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters expect the rain showers to move out of the area by the afternoon hours when falling temperatures drop into the 40s, according to the National Weather Service.

The cooler temperatures will stick around for the weekend, as highs will only reach the 40s with lots of sunshine, according to the National Weather Service.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 63. South southwest wind 5 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Thursday Night: A chance of showers after 2am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 48. South wind 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday: Showers, mainly between 8am and 2pm. Temperature rising to near 54 by 8am, then falling to around 46 during the remainder of the day. South southwest wind 13 to 16 mph becoming north northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Friday Night: A chance of showers before 8pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 30. North northwest wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 46. North northwest wind 6 to 10 mph becoming west southwest in the afternoon.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 35.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 48.
