Metro Detroit Weather: Will Tigers Opening Day Be Rained Out?

Tuesday may be the only dry day of the week, as a Pacific Northwest rain maker moves in followed by a mild cold front.

METRO DETROIT — As drivers in the metro Detroit region head out Tuesday morning, meteorologists warned dense areas of fog hanging around in the region will reduce visibility, the National Weather Service said.

Tuesday's morning fog was expected to dissipate during the late afternoon hours in the metro Detroit region before giving away to drier conditions with afternoon highs reaching the mid 50s, the National Weather Service said.

A strong Pacific Northwest system brings rain back to the metro Detroit area Wednesday, with the heaviest periods of rain expected during the late morning hours, just after the morning commute, the National Weather Service said. Depending on when the rain showers taper off, Wednesday's afternoon highs could reach the low 60s.

Although Thursday will start sunny in the metro Detroit area, a moving cold front will bring in heavier clouds, making for afternoon rain chances, the National Weather Service said. The rain chances should keep afternoon highs in the low 50s.

Opening day for Detroit Tigers baseball Friday looks rainy and chilly. Although Friday morning should be relatively dry with highs in the lower 40s for any tailgaters, rain chances move in through the afternoon hours, the National Weather Service said.

Although no rainout are expected Friday, the afternoon rain showers could impact the game, which starts at 1:10 p.m. Afternoon highs will only reach the upper 40s, as any lingering rain showers were expected to move out of the area by the evening hours, the National Weather Service said.
