MI Gas Prices Hit 2022 Low: AAA

Average gas prices across Michigan fell to a 2022 low Monday, just in time for the holiday weekend.

MICHIGAN — Average gas prices across Michigan fell to a 2022 low Monday, just in time for the holiday weekend.

The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Michigan was $3.05, down 17 cents from last week and 78 cents from last month, according to AAA.

Gas prices in the metro Detroit area fell to $2.98, which is the lowest since May 2021, according to AAA. The average prices in the Detroit area are down 71 cents since last month.

"Michigan motorists continue to see gas prices decline with the state average hitting a new 2022-low and a few metro areas falling below $3 a gallon," AAA-The Auto Club Group spokesperson Adrienne Woodland said. "As demand remains low and stocks grow, drivers will likely continue to see pump prices decrease through the holiday week."

The most expensive gas prices in Michigan were in Traverse City ($3.37), Jackson ($3.23) and Grand Rapids ($3.19). The cheapest areas for gas in the state were in Marquette ($2.94), Flint ($2.99) and Metro Detroit ($2.99).
