2 Arrested After Michigan State Trooper Wounded In Detroit Overnight Shooting: Police

Two people were arrested Tuesday morning after an undercover Michigan State Police trooper was shot Tuesday morning in Detroit, police said.

DETROIT — Two people were arrested Tuesday morning after an undercover Michigan State Police trooper was shot overnight in Detroit, Michigan State Police said.

The trooper was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, officials said.

Police said the trooper was conducting surveillance on the 14000 block of Riverview Street on Detroit's west side at 1:30 a.m. when shots were fired from an apartment building's upstairs window, striking the trooper multiple times.

Residents inside the building were evacuated as police searched for the shooter, officials said.

Police found shell castings inside the building and tracked down and arrested two suspected shooters in Romulus hours after the shooting, officials said.
