Michigan Man Arrested For Role In Jan. 6 Capitol Riot: Reports
According to reports, Logan Barnhart was wanted by the FBI for assaulting federal officers and now faces multiple federal charges.

WASHINGTON DC —The FBI has arrested a Michigan man for his alleged role in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, multiple media outlets reported Tuesday.
According to Huffington Post, the FBI confirmed the arrest of Logan Barnhart, who was wanted for assaulting federal officers. The Detroit Metro Times reported that Barnhart is in custody and facing multiple federal charges. The FBI had not released any details about the arrest as of Tuesday afternoon.
The Huffington Post reported that the FBI had been searching since January for the suspect it called "128-AFO," the name stemming from him being wanted for assaulting federal officers.

Barnhart, the Huffington Post reported, was photographed the day of the riot grabbing onto a D.C. Metropolitan Police Department officer and, with a group, dragging the officer down a set of stairs outside a tunnel on the western side of the U.S. Capitol. The publication reported that another man then used a flag pole to beat the officer.
The publication said several defendants already had been arrested in connection to the attack. But Barnhart, whose face was obscured by sunglasses, remained unidentified.

However, according to the Huffington Post, "citizen sleuths" found an image of Barnhart, without sunglasses, in a video of a rally at the White House prior to the attack on the Capitol. They plugged the image into a publicly available facial recognition website, which pulled up several images of Barnhart on internet bodybuilding websites. Photos of Barnhart, the publication wrote, even have graced the covers of romance novels.
Once identified, Barnhart's Instagram proved to be important, according to the Huffington Post, because it included a photo of the suspect wearing the same American flag hat he wore at the riot, and a video of him wearing the Caterpillar-branded sweatshirt he wore on Jan. 6.
If charges are confirmed, Barnhart would join a list of several other citizens from Michigan arrested and charged in connection to the Jan. 6 riot. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia lists 10 Michigan residents in its database of defendants charged in federal court in the District of Columbia related to crimes committed at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. That list includes:
- Trevor Brown, hometown not listed
- Karl Dresch, Calumet
- Michael Joseph Foy, Wixom
- Daniel Herendeen, Chesterfield
- James Allen Mels, Roseville
- Anthony Michael Puma, Brownstown
- Robert Schornak, Roseville
- Jeremy Ryan Sorvisto, Hancock
