New Dog Park And Bar Opening Saturday In Detroit

DETROIT — A new dog park and bar is opening Saturday in Detroit.

Barkside dog park and bar is opening Saturday at 7960 Kercheval Ave in Detroit's West Village neighborhood. There will be more than 3,000 square feet of indoor space and 7,000 square feet of the outdoor green space where dogs can play.

The indoor facility will feature an all-season bar with a selection of Michigan craft beers, wine, cocktails and mocktails (all served safely in cans) and coffee drinks, and pup cups for the furry customers. There will also be televisions, a new sound system and free Wi-Fi inside the facility.

Barkside is membership-based, but pet owners can buy a day pass for $15 plus $5 per additional dog. Barkside also requires that all dogs be up-to-date on their vaccinations to enter.

Membership options include:

• Unlimited Annual Membership: $325/year ($50 per additional household dog)
• Unlimited Monthly Membership: $35/month ($15 per additional household dog)
• Day Pass: $15/day ($5 per additional household dog)

"Barkside is more than a dog park. We are a social destination for dogs and their humans to relax and enjoy a beverage in the company of others," said Owners Cody Williams and David Oh. "Our monitored indoor and outdoor play areas provide space for dogs to have fun with their furry friends while their humans enjoy a local beer or coffee."

Barkside also partnered with behavioral specialists at Michigan Humane to train their staff to understand dog body language. Dogs will be monitored by employees as they play.

Barkside is open to the public, meaning you do not need a dog to enter the facility.
